| Agate
Agate gets its name from the river Achates in Sicily, where
it is said to have been discovered. Agate can be clear, or patterned
and banded--these markings coming in every variety and color.
Agate is cryptocrystalline (very finely crystalline) quartz, which
makes it a fine, durable gemstone.
