Healing Properties
Citrine is a yellow, golden or orange-yellow transparent variety of crystalline
quartz. It is known by many other names, for instance, it was sometimes
referred to as "Madeira" or " Bahia" Topaz, "Cuddle
Quartz" and the "Merchant's Stone".
Mystical Properties: Most commonly referred
to as a gemstone that brings happiness, hope and cheer to its wearer.
Hence the name, "Cuddle Quartz"-- as it is said to make the
wearer feel "cuddled".
Thought to help with all forms of emotional distress: low self-esteem,
suicidal tendencies, lack of energy and destructive tendencies.
Some believe placing citrine crystals in a safe or locked place will cause
income to increase, hence the name "Merchant's Stone".
To Eastern
Astrology this yellow stone is a secondary gemstone of the most beneficent
planet in Astrology, Jupiter, ruling Sagittarius and co-ruling Pisces.
Jewelers
consider it a gemstone of November, however, because of its yellow color,
it is sometimes associated with the Sun (Leo).
Citrine is an important gemstone for the
3rd Chakra (about the navel), called Manipura which governs energy
and vitality. Natural Healers use Citrine to bring about happiness and
abundance (i.e., open a closed 3rd Chakra).
Thought to chase away nightmares and ensure a good nights sleep.
Healing Properties: Said to rid the body of
toxins, it is often used to improve skin, aid digestion and improve the
disposition.
Scientific Properties: Composed of Silicon Dioxide
(Quartz). A clear yellow variety of crystalline quartz. While quartz is
a very common mineral in nature, naturally occurring Citrine is relatively
rare.
The finest natural Citrine comes from Brazil.
Hardness: 7.0 on the
Moh's Hardness Scale
