Diopside Healing Properties
Diopside, in gem quality, is usually either a Star or Cat's Eye Diopside in the black or dark brown or a spectacularly vivid emerald green in the Chrome Diopside variety. Sometimes referred to as Hedenbergite.
Mystical Properties: The darker varieties are considered grounding gemstones as they are associated with the 1st Chakra, the Chakra governing fear, primal urges for survival, sexual function and all elimination. Therefore said to soothe fears at a very deep level.
The star/eye varieties are sometimes said to be gateways for spirits to see into our world and our hearts. Sometimes said to be the dwelling places of these spirits as well.
Mentioned as improving intellect, mathematical and analytical abilities and bringing practicality to these applications.
The dark varieties are thought important for the 1st Chakra, while the bright green Chrome Diopside is considered excellent for the Heart Chakra (4th Chakra) and thought to improve one's ability to trust.
Healing Properties: Colon problems such as Crohn's disease, colitis, ulcers, diverticulosis. Muscle spasms.
Scientific Properties: A metamorphic mineral, composed of a Calcium, Magnesium Silicate. A pyroxene, Diopside is a series in this family of minerals. Sometimes chatoyant (displaying asterism or eyes).
Gem quality Diopside is found in New York, Quebec and Sweden. Chrome Diopside is found in Madagascar, North Korea, Finland and Russia.
