Healing Properties
Hessonite is a rather rare and expensive, orange or cinnamon colored Garnet,
considered especially important in Hindu (Eastern) Astrology.
Mystical Properties: In Eastern
Astrology, Hessonite is considered an important gemstone as it is
ruled by the Moon's North Node symbolized in their mythology by Rahu.
Rahu is really the point on the Moon's surface where the plane of the
Moon's orbit hits the ecliptic plane. This point generally travels backwards
with respect to the other planets and therefore, its influence is said
to be disruptive, hedonistic, and perpetually dissatisfied. An ill-aspected
Rahu in the chart tends to make people lazy, confused, incur bad Karma,
speak offensively, act aggressively and dull the thoughts, logic and morality.
Hessonite is thought to redirect these energies in a positive way by improving
the
intellect, lessen aggressive tendencies and increase self-esteem and
respect.
Thought to increase self-respect and improve spirituality.
Thought to vibrate with the 5th Chakra.
Healing Properties: Thought to help the mind
and body release toxins. Improve relaxation.
Scientific Properties: Composed of Grossularite
Garnet, a Calcium Aluminum Silicate. All Garnets are heavy, but because
of the high ratio of Calcium in Grossularite Garnet
is the lightest of all garnet varieties.
Garnet is sometimes used in making sandpaper.
Gem quality Hessonite is generally found in Mexico and India.
Hardness: 6-7.5 on the Moh's
Hardness Scale
