Sodalite Healing Properties
Sodalite is an opaque, navy blue semi-precious gemstone, usually with characteristic white streaks. It is often used to substitute for its more expensive cousin, Lapis Lazuli.
Mystical Properties: Sodalite is considered a gemstone of Trust and Rational Thought without the emotions that can sometimes cloud judgement.
Thought to bring calm to its wearer and is said to have a strong feminine (yin) polarity.
It is said to vibrate with the Third Eye Chakra, which facilitates intuition, psychic awareness, ESP and insight.

Sodalite is formed in alkaline igneous and plutonic rocks with low silica content.
Sodalite is very similar in appearance to Lapis Lazuli, however Sodalite is lacking in the golden pyrite flecks characteristic of Lapis. Sodalite tends to have a brushed denim appearance whereas Lapis tends to polish to a stronger sheen.
Found in Canada, Brazil and South Africa. 5.5- 6.5 on the Moh's Hardness Scale
Buyer Beware!Sodalite is often used as a substitute for Lapis Lazuli. Lapis will always have golden flecks in it--Sodalite is characterized by white runners or streaks.
While Sodalite is a durable gemstone, the Calcite runners are not. Use caution in cleaning this mineral, as the Calcite runners may be easily dissolved by some solvents.
